In the restoration of antique instruments we take utmost care in all phases of the work and show the utmost respect in keeping the original constructive characteristics intact. The intention to return the originality and functionality of the instrument is the common thread that, with the experience we have gained and our continuous documentation, guide us in the delicate task of historical restoration.

The use of traditional techniques for restoring the wood, for bonding the leather and for working on the metal of the pipes, as well as the quality of the materials used, combined with our professionalism and competence, enable us to achieve high-level results.

HISTORICAL RESEARCH

The work of restoration begins with research into the organ’s history. Documents, testimonies and manuscripts tell us about who, centuries earlier, gave form and voice to the instrument. After this, the organ is dismantled and a survey is made of all its parts.

DISASSEMBLING AND RECONDITIONING

The restoration of the windchest involves the complete disassembling of every single part to allow them to be restored and then reassembled correctly. In our rooms the temperature is continuously monitored to enable the adhesives to function best.

CHOICE OF LEATHERS

The bellows and the remaining parts of the organ go through a similar process. The best choice of leather is selected and cut. Once the wooden parts are cleaned and restored, they are reassembled to ensure a perfect airtight seal.

RESTORATION OF THE PIPES

Great attention is paid to the restoration of the metal pipes. All the registers are analyzed and studied. A careful and meticulous restoration work is undertaken to achieve the original geometries.

VERIFICATION OF THE FUNCTIONALITY

At the end of the repair and restoration work of the various components, the parts are reassembled in our rooms for an initial test. The windtightness and the play in the mechanical parts is checked.
